Gurukul Yogashala - Traditional Yoga School | Swarg Ashram, Rishikesh
Namaste from us… step into this sacred journey and discover the quiet strength that lives within every mother.
Gurukul Yogashala offers an 85-hour yoga teacher training program on prenatal and postnatal care. This program is designed for anyone who wants to help and support women during one of the most significant periods in mankind's history: becoming a mother. Whether you are a pregnant woman looking for safe, gentle ideas to use throughout your pregnancy, a yoga teacher with years of experience wanting to concentrate on mothers, or a person who wants to learn about using yoga as a way to help heal from this transition. The Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga Course will be a remarkable experience.
This course is based on Gurukul tradition where students learn, live, and grow with their teachers. It offers a full immersion in yogic living, Vedic wisdom, and Garbha Samskara (the ancient science of childbirth). The course is inspired by Garbhopanishad, one of the oldest texts on pregnancy and childbirth written in India, and includes the examination of prenatal anatomy; trimester by trimester asana practice; pranayama techniques for labour and postnatal recovery; Ayurvedic nutrition; and compassionate methods of teaching. At the completion of the course in Rishikesh, you will have more than just a certificate - you will have developed a complete understanding of how to support a mother and child through this time with knowledge, love, and grace.
Preparing for Birth Naturally
Prenatal yoga is specifically created
for pregnant women, and it incorporates various forms of yoga that use gentle movements, breathing techniques,
and meditation during each stage of pregnancy. Prenatal yoga can be performed in the first trimester, through
the end of the pregnancy. Prenatal yoga has been developed so that pregnant women can perform safe, supportive
movements and not have any pressure on their belly, strain, or risk of losing their balance. The postures have
been altered to accommodate a mother's changing body throughout her pregnancy.
In India's ancient philosophy, pregnancy was viewed as a spiritual experience. As such, the philosophy behind prenatal yoga comes from the Garbhopanishad, a Vedic scripture that describes how best to feed and care for both the mother and her unborn child through movement, food, breathing, and thought.
Trimester-Specific Practice Every trimester has its own sets of asanas. Consequently, a woman's body will change every few weeks and her yogic practice will change based on her body at that time.
Mind–Body–Baby Connection : Prenatal yoga encompasses a physical part of the mother-baby connection, as well as a mental connection through breathing and meditative practices.
After delivery, mothers can practice postnatal yoga, which is designed to help them recover physically and emotionally from childbirth. The weeks and months that follow delivery are times of constant physical healing and emotional changes. New mothers need to take care of themselves and their bodies, and postnatal yoga helps them do just that.
Postnatal yoga is intended to help mothers regain core stability and strength, heal their pelvic floor muscles, relieve back pain or discomfort, work through any postpartum mood changes they may be experiencing, and connect with their bodies again after giving birth. There are also postnatal yoga practices that can be used by mothers who have recently undergone a C-section delivery.
Note : Postnatal yoga classes generally begin at 6–8 weeks after a normal vaginal delivery and approximately 8–12 weeks after a C-section. Mothers should get guidance on the appropriate timing of beginning postnatal yoga from their doctor or midwife.
This program is designed to take you through the whole process of being a mother from the very beginning of trying to conceive (preconception) to being pregnant and preparing for the birth (labor preparation) to recovering after giving birth (postnatal recovery).
