Namaste from us… step into stillness and discover the quiet power of slowing down.
Gurukul Yogashala conducts a 7-Day Yin Yoga Short Course. This program is perfect for those seeking a deeper connection with the body, mind, and spirit. Whether you are new to yoga, an experienced practitioner seeking a gentle addition to your active practice, or a teacher eager to learn something new, the transition of a Yin Yoga short course in Rishikesh will be a uniquely enriching adventure.
Based on the age-old Gurukul tradition of where students stay, learn and evolve with their teacher, this is not just a course in yoga but an utter experience of yogic living, classical knowledge and authentic spiritual practice. Designed as an internationally certified Yin Yoga teacher training in Rishikesh, India, our course explores the depth of deep connective tissue anatomy, meridian theories, intelligent sequencing, perceptive teaching methodology etc. So that you walk away with more than just knowledge but a sense of having embodied Yin Yoga.
Yin Yoga is a subtle, slow, meditative, and deeply therapeutic form of yoga. During Yin Yoga, the poses (called Yin postures) are held passively for long periods of time, generally from two to five minutes, and up to ten minutes in advanced practitioners.
Yin Yoga can be traced back to Chinese Medicine and the Taoist ideals of yin and yang, the opposite but equal forces of rest and active, softness and strength, stagnation and flow. The body is believed to have a grid of energy channels called meridians through which the body’s vital force energy known as Qi or Prana flows. When these channels become congested or imbalanced it results in physical and emotional blockages. Yin Yoga asanas work to open, activate and balance the body’s meridian network, clear their pathways and create healthy energy flow throughout.
The other half to Yin Yoga is Yang Yoga.
Yang is the more active, energetic form of yoga such as Hatha, Vinyasa, Kundalini and Ashtanga. The aim of Yang is to create muscular strength, cardiovascular stamina, heat and physical endurance. They apply themselves to the superficial layers of the body - to the muscle, developing an energising, uplifting effect. Yang is heat, to movement, to outward expression.
The human body needs a combination of active and relaxing forms of exercise to be well balanced, just like nature does. Yin Yoga is a slow and passive form of practice that incorporates flexibility and relaxation into movement; however, it does not create muscular or cardiovascular strength/fitness like Yang practices (such as Vinyasa Yoga). A healthy lifestyle should include both active (Yang) and passive (Yin) forms of exercise to provide total muscle conditioning and provide adequate time for physical recovery.
At Gurukul Yogashala our Yin Yoga short course trains you not just as a Yin teacher, but also to demonstrate how Yin and Yang relate - you can then show how balanced yoga practice can best support the welfare of your class.
To decide to study Yin Yoga in Rishikesh is not merely a rational choice. it is a spiritual journey. And out of the many yoga schools in this holy city, Gurukul Yogashala is set among the best for reasons that go far beyond just the course content.
गगने योगनाड्याः खे, देहो लभते लाघवम्। व्योममार्गे निवेशेन, भवति चेतना सुस्थितम्॥
In the aerial pathways of yoga, the body becomes light, and awareness finds peaceful stability.
The course is a carefully designed 7 day for 50 hours immersive journey exploring the theory and practice of Yin yoga through the medium of the Yogashala.
26 different poses are included in the 26 Yin Yoga sequence. Each pose has options for using props, has intelligent sequencing and design based on the Meridian system.
Yang yoga is the flow style yoga practice that includes many different poses that create a strong connection between inhaling and exhaling.
You will receive a Certificate of Completion from YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider) that is valid internationally for use in teaching.
